Creative Blogging or Blocking?

So there are a few things that have my mind racing these days (or should i say months) and that is the lack of posts on my blog lately. OK sure posts should occur naturally and I should just focus and invest a little more time to my blog, but the truth is I have overcrowded my mind with worries and doubts. After reflecting back at my previous blog behavior in the past I realized I have blocked myself from writing many new posts. It's not that I am unhappy to have my blog but I am usually stressing over the fact that I never write in it not because I have nothing to say but because of the fear of screwing up a post. Oh come on what is wrong with a little trial and error I have done it many times before on creative projects so why not on my blog? Well simply because often times I get so caught up on doing it right to impress others and block myself of my own potential, I'm sure I am not alone in this unrighteous crime, but enough is enough I've learned from this mistake and will do my best not to hit the repeat button again. Who do I have to impress, after all I made the blog to share my ideas with others not to get anyone's opinion or become the world's greatest blogger. I'm saying goodbye to neglecting my power within and shedding that tough shell that has been blocking me for quite sometime and yelling a big "Hello!" to a new me and letting my endless creativity not be censored by my own insecurities but allow it to guide me towards artistic goals and exuberant projects!

Six Months of Married Life!

I am so happy that today marks my six months of marriage with my wonderful hubby Adrian. Now I know that it's not even a complete year, but it just amazes me how time has gone by so quickly and it's halfway to our first year married. "Time is however irrelevant when love is eternal", says Mr. Sandoval, when I told him of this morning. Regardless of time, it is still a beautiful day and I look forward to the many great stories and accomplishments we will share together. Just this month alone, we finished moving into a cute little place and I can't wait to make it a stylish "His & Her" environment to share laughs and create new memories. I already started a Pinterest board titled "Our Married Apartment" to collect inspiration!

Special thanks to Lilibeth Lopez and Chris Macias for the lovely photo!

From Bridesmaid to New Year Vixen!

Before: Bridesmaid dress that I found at the thrift store, had a great fit on top but it needed to be more fitted on the skirt.
Not only did I find this at a thrift store, but it was a major steal, only $8.95.
The dress was too long for me, so I decided to make it shorter, slightly above the knees.
The gown was a bit wide, so I hemmed it in and made it more of a body con style.
After: A sexy dress perfect for bringing in the New Year!
New Year Vixen here, wishin' you all a wonderful 2014!!!

Project in Works: In Laws Living Room

Recently I have been helping my in laws transform their dated living room into a functional and sophisticated space. We often huddle around the television to watch a movie or converse in that room, so it was important to keep it family oriented and make it a place to relax and enjoy each others' company. Now since my in laws are on a tight budget for this project, I needed to think of ways to either make money appear or save where I could. I came up with a few solutions and decided it would be best to do it by taking small steps, that way we build up to our finished product without forcing rapid change. Luckily, my step father-in-law is a contractor and has all the renovating smarts, so I decided teaming up with him and my mother-in-law would save us on costs of labor. Another idea that occurred to me early on was to ask them to minimize what they had in the living room. It was overcrowded with furniture pieces, memorabilia that should be displayed elsewhere, and simply junk that had no purpose. Having only kept a few items that were dear to them, we could start with a clean slate. I was also struck with the idea of posting a Craigslist ad to sell the large undesirable sofas, and within 15 minutes of posting, we sold them for $150. We also had 2 yard sales so far to sell lots of the decor and pieces we were ready to retire, and have made about $300, now that might not seem like much, but it sure is being that our budget is super tight. This is the first interior project I do, and I am definitely enjoying the process. I am learning so much about myself and about my family members. I feel great that I am able to help my in laws not only transform their home, but shine light on new ways of thinking to better their own lives.  I can't wait to keep posting and show you all the transformation of the space. Warm hearts and positive changes!

Here's a glimpse of the living room that desperately is seeking a makeover:

The space was small and narrow, very gloomy and overcrowded.
Awkward brick corner with memorabilia makes the room look unorganized
Too many furniture pieces that compete and decor that is outdated does not mesh well together. Paneling.....not done right!

Full Throttle Motivation!

It's been some time now since I acknowledged my blog, due to work and other personal reasons, but I have high hopes for 2013, especially since this year I will be getting married! Along with great projects coming my way, I will be planning my own wedding, which will be in July of this year. Hooray! to that and may great things come to all of us. I have held back a lot the past few years, held back in meeting new people, work opportunities, getting things done, but enough of that, I am going to buckle up my seat belt and just ride full speed with anything I do!
